Visit our stores in St. Marys and the DuBois Mall and see the difference! Fritz Pianos & Organs, Inc. was founded in 1948 by Hal Fritz and was known as Hal Fritz Piano Co. Hal started his business on Center Street in 1948 and then moved it to the present location at 814 Johnsonburg Rd., St. Marys, in November of 1954. Hal ran the business along with the help of his wife Pauline. In 1971 their son Fred joined the team as a piano technician, repairman, and delivery person. In 1974 a second store was opened at the DuBois Mall. Frank Fritz returned to the area after working for the Wurlitzer Company in DeKalb to manage the DuBois Mall store. Frank’s longtime assistant at the mall was J. Allen Hartzfeld, who retired in May 2003. When the business incorporated in 1986 the name was changed to Fritz Pianos and Organs, Inc. Hal Fritz was actively involved in the business until his death in October of 1996. In April of 2003, the Fritz family suffered the sudden and untimely loss of Frank Fritz. While this has been difficult, the Fritz family has continued to serve the musical needs of the area. The stores are currently owned and operated by Fred Fritz along with his wife, Marie. The DuBois Mall store employs Edward Raybuck, James Logue, Shawn Daly, and Dustan Dodd. All are accomplished musicians and eager to help with all of your musical ambitions. John Fritz and Zachary Hoffman work part time at both store locations and are also talented musicians. Luke Fritz and Erich Dippold assist Fred with piano deliveries. Fritz Pianos & Organs, Inc. is a retail music store, specializing in the sale of Yamaha Pianos; Clavinova Digital Pianos; Yamaha guitars; keyboards; and King, Conn, Artley, and Armstrong band instruments. You will also find a great selection of music books, band instrument accessories, Hohner harmonicas, guitar supplies and musical boutique gift items. [Vocal and piano lessons are also available at the St. Marys store.] We continue to carry the latest in digital pianos in order to meet the needs of our customers who wish to interface their keyboard with their PC, expanding on the capabilities of their instrument. We have continued our band instrument program in the area schools to encourage and support our young musicians. Although many changes have taken place in the Fritz family and in the music industry, after 58 years, the personal and friendly service at Fritz Pianos & Organs has stayed the same! |
